SimCity News

Please note I'm currently working on the new site. I didn't want to take the site offline though, so you can still visit it. However me working on the site while it's still online means a lot of the pages will appear wonky. But not to worry, it won't take too long. Happy

Earlier tonight I read on Twitter that Origin is going to stop selling physical copies of their games. Meaning, you can only get the games digital through Origin. However you can still get the physical copies through retail. Here's the post:

A Fond Farewell to Discs!

Starting April 4th Origin will be going all digital. This means the entire Origin game store will be entirely digital downloads for PC and Mac.

What does this mean for you? If you're among 99% of our users, absolutely nothing. Your shopping experience hasn't changed one single bit.

But if you're that 1% who still desires a physical collection, we want to let you know that Origin won't be able to fulfill that need beginning April 4th. We’ll still be here when you transition your gaming habits to the wonders of digital downloads.

Digital is fast and convenient. Origin’s focus is to give gamers the best experience, and going all-digital will make that possible.

My celebration nails today! :D

10 years!!

Woah, there is it. SNW is 10 years old today. If you would have told me about this 10 years ago I would have laughed and would not have believed you. But it's quite a milestone. I'll repeat it again. SNW is 10 years old today. Well, officially anyway. I started in January 2004 I think, preparing the website and content. And somewhere in March I opened up the site. But I never officially opened or anything. So at some point, about a year later, I thought to myself... When did I actually start? I should have an official date or something. So that's when I decided it would be the 24th. And if you were to go on the forums and look at my oldest posts there, those are from September, or even August 2003? Because I've actually had fansites since 2000. But it was just different with SNW. Clearly, cause SNW is still here :D Despite some bad times when we lost nearly everything. I didn't give up (but it has been hard at times). I managed to get back up on my feet and I started doing again what I love so much. Creating stuff and putting it on my fansite haha. I just love being part of this community. So here's to at least 10 more!! :D

Giveaway?

As for the giveaway. Some of you may have heard that I was planning to go a giveaway for the 10th anniversary. There will still be one. However, all the stuff I am supposed to giveaway isn't here yet. I was planning to do a video to show all the prizes I'd be giving away. But yeah not much to show now so... I'll do that later for sure. Happy

Q&A!

I've asked if people would be interested in a Q&A video on my channel, and people actually are! So if you have any questions about SNW (or something else you want to say, that's fine too) just comment below this post, or on Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr.

Thanks!

I'd just like to point out that without a loving community, I probably would have stopped my fansite a long time ago. I'm glad to be part of this community. I'm glad I met and meet so many people and made a lot of friends. It's mostly because of The Sims and because of my site. That's just really special to me, and it's something I think about a lot. So, basically. Thank you. Thank you for being a visitor, a member, a fan, a follower, a subscriber, a friend. xoxo Rosie

Happy St. Patrick's Day from The Sims 4!

Wednesday, March 12, 2014 - 22:00

Do you like creating artworks related to The Sims series? Then this should be perfect for you! Here's a blog from SimGuruLyndsay!

Hello Simmers!

Many years ago The Sims team moved to Redwood Shores – we got a fancy new floor with fancy new décor, we got to name our meeting rooms (Bladder Failure & Social Bunny hee hee) and make it our own.  Recently we've been given a chance to refresh our studio again! It’s time to put up some new decorations, new paint, new flair and we want your help!  You are such a HUGE part of why we do what we do – your creativity constantly inspires and motivates us.  We'd like to create some spaces in our studio dedicated to YOUR creations.  What does The Sims mean to you? Paintings, sketches, collages, digital art – what has it inspired you to create?  Send us your art – something that represents you and The Sims (any The Sims product that moves you) and we'll start creating a gallery dedicated to you.

What have you made? We'd love to see creations inspired by any of The Sims games – from the very first The Sims , to The Sims 3 , to any of the console games (hey, The Urbz had some amazing style)! Pieces can be any of the following:

  • Photographs
  • Collages
  • Paintings, drawings, sketches
  • Handmade crafts that can be hung on walls

Please send your physical creations to:

The Sims
209 Redwood Shores Parkway
Redwood City, CA 94065

Not able to ship something to us but want to share your creations? We’re accepting digital artwork as well! Send your digital wonders inspired by The Sims to: Simleaderalpha@ea.com with the subject line: Artwork for the SimGurus

Get your stuff sent to us by April 4, 2014!

We can't wait to see what you will send us! Keep an eye out on our channels as we'll be sure to show off the creations on our walls!

Thank you for continuing to be part of The Sims universe and helping to make The Sims the special thing that it is.

Lyndsay

The Sims is 14 years old today! And to celebrate that, EA has sent us these lovely cupcakes! I will have my family try them for me, as I can't eat them myself *sad face* haha. Thank you so much EA! <3

I just read on Tweakers / Gamer.nl that EA Netherlands is supposedly closing their marketing department. I have no official word on this yet. And I'm not sure what it means for the Dutch community. But it comes to me as quite a shock. I hope these are just rumours and nothing more! When we know more, we'll report it here!

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a great New Year celebration! I celebrated it with my family. We had raclette for dinner. And at midnight we had oliebollen and some sparklers!

I hope 2014 will be another great year for everyone. SNW has done pretty good in 2013. I intend to make 2014 an even better year. Happy

I hereby would like to announce three things!

SNW on deviantArt

I recently started using one of my old deviantArt accounts, changed the name and contents. And it's now snwgames on dA. I will upload some screenshots and other Simsy stuff. So if you are on dA, feel free to watch snwgames there as well! I will watch back all Sims related accounts. Happy

Live Streams and Let's Plays(?)

I have been debating whether or not I should do Let's Plays for a long time now. I am pretty camera shy, and I'm also not quite comfortable with my own voice. It's even worse in another language. However I have decided I will do some live streams every now and then. It's a good way to overcome my fears haha. The live streams will be Sims related, but also SimCity and other games such as Minecraft. At first I probably won't be talking, I've turned off my mic completely. It's likely I will change this as time progresses. I have been testing the live streams already on my Twitch channel. The Sims 3, The Sims 2, and Minecraft all work fine. I haven't been able to get The Sims working properly yet but I am determined to get that one working as well. I have so many games and I realize a lot of people just like looking at whatever it is other people do in their games. So that is one of the resolutions I have for SNW! For the old skool members and visitors here, you may remember that I broadcasted my Sims 2 game back in 2005? I really liked that! We could definitely do that again. The question is, do I play and talk in English or in Dutch? I prefer English, and I think most of the visitors do too.

Finally: a new team member; Marii!

I have been running SNW by myself most of the time. Throughout the years we had some moderators on our forums and such. And occassionally someone wrote a short article about a new pack. But most of the work here is done by myself. And even though I am proud of that, I am not opposed to anyone joining the team. Like most people, I am very busy with real life stuff, and have a hard time doing it all on my own. I have every intention in continuing doing a lot of things on SNW, but it's nice if there are talented people who want to help out. Marii has written reviews for SNW before, and recently she also did a Dutch video review on Midnight Hollow. She has her own Sims channel where she does Dutch Let's Play videos. Go check it out! Anyway the big news is, Marii is joining SNW officially as a team member! :D Give her a warm welcome!
