SimCity - News

Please note I'm currently working on the new site. I didn't want to take the site offline though, so you can still visit it. However me working on the site while it's still online means a lot of the pages will appear wonky. But not to worry, it won't take too long. Happy

SimCity is finally available to play offline!

It's taken over half a year since the PC launch, but Maxis has officially launched SimCity for Mac today. If you purchased the game already, there's no need to do it again: all copies of SimCity, whether digital or retail copies, can be used to play the game on both PC and Mac. To play the game on Mac, start Origin on Mac and install the game as usual.

With update 6 out of the way, Maxis has announced update 7 which is currently in development. It'll bring a plethora of traffic fixes. Most notably vehicles will now claim their destination before actually going there, which will prevent flocking. Congestion on busy routes is also handled in a smarter way and vehicles will accelerate and decelerate faster, allowing them to leave buildings and go through intersections more easily, allowing smoother traffic in your city.

SimCity on Facebook just posted these screens which show some of the new features coming soon:

Update 6 Changes Currently in Testing

We are testing changes to how RCI works in the game in response to feedback directly from our players. The main goals are to make Industrial matter more and make sure the demand bars inform players what they should zone.

Prima Games just sent out a tweet about the SimCity Prima Games guide available as iBook!
